Message from Our President

Winter Has Arrived!

And with mixed bag of weather for us to deal with!  I am looking forward to the 2012 season with fixed feelings - it's going to be busy and hopefully, fun for all of us.  I hope more of you will get involved.  There's lots to do - we are looking for members to be on the following committees:  the Show Committee, Social Committee and the Youth Developement Committee.

February and March will give us the opportunity to begin preparing for the upcoming show season.  April things begin in earnest! First with the Karen Robinson Freestyle Clinic, April 20-23, then the first League show on April 29.

Karen Robinson will once again visit Central Oregon with her wonderful musical freestyle clinic (this is not a club event).   AND if you have ever thought about doing a musical freestyle or you would like to just learn more about them, this is a must!  There will be an evening session where Karen explains how to put a freestyle together and then two days of music and riding.  I suggest you all come!  Karen is knowledgable, engaging and lots of fun! Let me know if you are interested in participating in this event!

I have been thinking about a recent comment I heard about how the Club is divided into "upper level" riders and "lower level" riders.  Really???  I really think this is an organization made up of "Students of Dresssage".  We are all wishing we could make the perfect circle be it 20, 15 or 8 meters.  We are all hoping our transitions are prompt, smooth and full of submission.  Personally, I am always hoping for a prompt canter departs and a square halts at X and oh yes, Elle please give me a little submission, just a little!  This is a challenging sport we have chosen - it aint easy!  And then, there is the part of balancing your dressage goals with school, work, family and friends!  Wow!  I say good for all of us for working hard to make those circles round, those lines straight and our dreams come true!

Hope to see you all at our Spring meeting on April 4, 6:00 pm at Joolez Restaurant, downtown Bend.

Stay warm & dry

Laura
